Pakistani tourism has flourished in the past few years, after a big pause due to events related to terrorism. The war on terrorism has destroyed the scenery as well as the tourism of Pakistan including the northern areas like Swat, and Gilgit.
Pakistan is one of the most beautiful countries in the world with the most diverse cultures and spectacular landscapes, as a home to the world’s second largest peak, K-2. If managed well they can attract more people than ever before. The government has been trying to do its efforts to improve tourism in Pakistan for past many years now. There come hindrances in the way of progress of these projects but the scenery remains as beautiful as ever.
Festivals
Pakistani culture is very vast and diverse so there are many festivals round the year that can be a very good attraction for the tourists. Festivals like Basant, Chitral festival, the polo festival, Kafiristan festival and world performing arts festival attract many tourists. Due to the mixture of people from various religions, Christians, Muslims, Hindus and Sikhs enjoy their respective religious holidays like Christmas, Eid, and Holi. Lots of people like to attend these festivities and the tourism inflow increases during the times of these festivals. Along with these there are fair and religious festivals can also be of interest for many people in the world. In 2009, The World Economic Forum’s Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Report ranked Pakistan as one of the top 25% tourist destinations for its World Heritage Sites.
Indus Valley Civilization
Indus Valley civilization is one of the biggest attractions of Pakistan. It is considered to be the oldest civilization of the world, the earliest human settlements on the face of earth. Every year hundreds of tourists visit Pakistan for Indus Valley site seeing.
Wild life
The varied wild life is not constrained to Africa only. The LalSonehra wild life park is one of the most beautiful wild life places in Pakistan and does attract many tourists from Pakistan and abroad. On the other hand, the blind dolphins of Indus River are one species of the dolphins found only in Pakistan. Tourists go for a boat safari to catch a site of these dolphins.
The Mountain Ranges and Valleys
Pakistan has three of the most stunning mountain ranges of the world. Karakoram, Hindukush and Himalayan mountain ranges attract many people from within and outside of the country. The beautiful mountain ranges and their valleys are very famous for their beautiful sites. One of the most beautiful valleys, Ziarat valley, is a part of Quetta, Balochistan, and is very famous for Juniper forests. The Juniper forests in Ziarat are second biggest in the world and give a very lush green look to the valley. Not only that but some of these trees are more than 5000 years old that makes the valley one of the oldest Juniper valleys.
With ancient valleys and old civilizations, along with lush green picturesque scenery, Pakistan makes to one of the top most visited destinations of the world.
